Welcome to our horse portraits studio and materials page. Our clients love to find out about us, which they can from our about us page. However they also like to see where we work so they know where their horse drawing or painting is being created. We work in our purpose built garden studio which is heated all year round and keeps us lovely and cosy in the winter months. The photo below was taken in mid summer as you can see from the leaves on the trees and our garden is heavenly in the summer. On a lovely day you can leave the windows and door open and listen to general chattering of the birds, which we have an abundance here. We have feeders outside the studio so we can watch them from the windows.
We are accompanied in our studio by our lovely little dog called Lily. She is a Tibetan Terrier and a bundle of fun and mischief. You can see her in a bed by the window which we refer to as the 'lily window'' as she watches out of it often ...just in case anything happens to go by! She sleeps in a bed under my desk too, however in general I believe she feels everything in the studio is hers to sleep on, including our chairs as you can see in the next photo below, where she is sitting on my chair!
This is my work area where I draw my horse portraits, you can just about see a montage of a horse on my desk. The lighting is hitting the white paper as we use strong lights to work by. I also work on my iMac which you can see in the photo where I create all of the client mockups and design and maintain our websites.
Our lighting is very important and we both have LED panels to work by. They are dimable and have diffusers on so that we can alter the brightness if required. They are perfect for working on long dark winter evenings.
Nicholas paints all of his portraits using traditional oil paints and a range of paintbrushes which you can see from the photo below. We only work with the highest quality materials we can find and are often researching and sources new and exciting materials to work with.
Our canvases are made bespoke by a company here in the UK. They are made using the finest Italian Linen canvas and stretched on Tulip hardwood. We only work with the best!
We hope you have enjoyed looking around our studio and seeing our materials. If you would like us to paint or draw your horse, why not get in touch with us today and email us your photos, we would love to see them!
