Horse Portrait Customer Testimonials
I have received some great feedback and testimonials over the years for my horse portraits and I have gathered a few here for prospective clients and visitors to read and enjoy.
Clients, when they receive their portraits, quite often take photos of the paintings in situ or with their family holding the portrait. I really appreciate the time it takes to set this up so that I can add them to the site. The more customer involvement I can have, the better, as it really does help to make my website come to life.
Clients can also visit the studio to collect their paintings and we are always happy for clients to book an aopoint me t to visit at any time. We live fairly rurally so we will always give directions, but its not too far off the beaten track. Just right!

Hi Melanie & Nick
Just to say that Murphy's portrait arrived safe & sound (wow very impressed with the wrapping - so was our dog who enjoyed the bubblewrap - lol) This isn't going to be his hanging place, I'm just enjoying looking at it from the sofa at the moment - I feel I'm going to have to re-design the living room now and nag my poor husband about putting the new fireplace in ;0) he will look wonderful just above it.
We all can't get over how lifelike and warm the painting is, and it has this amazing 3D quality you just don't get with a photo (i'm not sure if that best describes it) after missing him so much over the last few months, it's almost as though he's in the room with us. The size is perfect, near enough lifesize - it reminds me of him looking back through the stables. Nick, I think I just haven't seen anyone else capture a 'soul' in a painting like you have done. Once again, thank you so much - I will send pictures once we eventually have it put up properly.

Hi Nick,
I got the paintings just a couple of days ago!! They look amazing, even better in person, truly. They came together so there was no problems in shipping and I hung them as soon as I got them.
It was nice that the edges were painted as well so I have the option of whether to frame them or not and right now they sit on a wood wall which shows them very nicely.

Sorry that ive not been in touch sooner, my life became very hectic! I have attached a few photos of the framed portrait that Nick has drawn of my friesian mare. I absolutely love the picture, its amazing and nick has managed to capture my horse's character 100%. :)

The portrait has arrived safe and sound and is absolutely beautiful- the colours are so rich and it is just like Sherry!! Thanks so much for getting it to us today, on the 21st! It was a great thrill to receive it.
Our present to Jess was the purchase of Sherry, whom she has had on lone for ages now and intended buying when she finished varsity and was working. She is over the moon now and it makes the portrait even more important! We plan to frame it as soon as possible to protect it and will send you a photo once done.
We feel really happy with the picture and wouldn't hesitate to recommend you- Jess has already been showing the copy to her friends at the stables!

Hi Nick, Finally 'Sherry' has been framed. You wanted a photo of the framed picture, which I have attached ( I have also included a picture of Jess and Sherry - the love is apparent!). The photo does not do the painting justice though as it had to be photographed in natural light inside which means the that the f-stop is bigger than desired or the speed is dropped - also undesirable as you have to have the hands of a brain surgeon to keep a camera steady even at 1/200 of a second! Also the camera is trying to focus on a two- dimensional object and it has 3 choices - the frame or the glass or the flat painting behind the glass. Altogether, it will always be out of focus - 3 spotlights would have got it right though!
I tried using a flash from every direction imaginable but there is always a reflection somewhere, so that was a no go. Even in this natural light picture there is reflection. I did increase contrast in Photoshop a tad but left the colour as the camera saw it.
If I were you I would just use the original painting (unframed) on your site if you want to. We love the picture and even though Jess now has the live horse as well, the picture will outlive her.

Dear Nick,
Willow's portrait arrived this morning! Finding any word to describe how pleased I am with it is difficult. Stunned, is perhaps most apt. As one who still prefers film photography over most digital because, in my opinion, it captures far more depth, I usually prefer photos over portraits for the same reason. In this case, however, I am completely awed by the life-like complexity of Nick's work. Perhaps the best compliment I can pay is to immediately commission another portrait, this time of Tony's horse Frosty. Please get back to me to discuss details of such.
