About Nick Beall
My name is Nick Beall. I have made my living from painting for the last 16 years. I started out as an illustrator, completing artwork for advertising agencies, book covers and encyclopedias. You need a lot of discipline to be an illustrator, the deadlines are often very short, the client usually has a very clear idea of what they want and you have to meet the brief. There are no time extensions, no excuses, you complete the artwork to the brief and to the standard they expect. It was quite a stressful job but also quite exiting, you never new what the next commission would be. I like to think that I have taken the professionalism I learnt as an illustrator and applied it to my private commissions as an equine portrait artist. I take this job very seriously. The client is entrusting me to do the job say I can do. I am paid to create a one off painting of their horse. I enter into a contract with the client to do the following:
- To paint a portrait based on an agreed upon design.
- To capture the client's particular, individual horse, not any horse, their horse.
- To produce a painting to the high standard shown on my website, or better.
- To keep the client informed of my progress, through the portraits in progress blog, and through personal emails.
- To complete the portrait on time.
- Lastly, to complete any amendments the client may ask for. The portrait will not leave my studio until I am certain that the client is completely satisfied with my workmanship.
As long as I bear the above points in mind I will keep the reputation I have developed over the years. I will ensure that I have a long list of satisfied customers who return to me time and time again and recommend me to friends and family.
I love this job, I always look forward to the challenge of the next portrait, and it is an honour to be chosen to immortalize someone's cherished friend. |
